What’s New in 2025?

Starting July 15, 2025, income-qualified condo owners and apartment renters in multi-unit residential buildings (MURBs) six storeys or fewer can receive up to $5,000 in rebates to install a high-performance electric heat pump in their individual suite.

This new Condo and Apartment Rebate is part of the Better Homes Energy Savings Program and is designed to:

Lower your energy bills
Reduce your reliance on inefficient electric baseboards
Keep your home cool in summer and warm in winter
Improve indoor comfort and air quality

Do You Qualify?

To be eligible for the up to $5,000 rebate, you must:

Live in a condo or apartment under 6 storeys
Currently heat your suite with electricity (e.g., baseboard heaters)
Meet income qualification requirements
Obtain permission from your landlord or strata
Apply through the Better Homes Energy Savings Program

NOTE: In Fall 2025, the program will expand to include buildings that are heated by fossil fuels such as natural gas or oil (e.g., gas-fired boilers).
